Gaither Vocal Band Reunion Sans Guy Penrod?

Two weeks from today at the National Quartet Convention Bill Gaither will be hosting the first Gaither Vocal Band Reunion in front of a full audience… It was already known that Terry Franklin And Jonathan Pierce were not going to be able to make it; but it is being reported now that there is a possibility that Guy Penrod may also not make it… To me this is a big deal considering the following that Guy Penrod created through his years with the GVB, and arguably some of the best music that the GVB has ever put out featured Guy Penrod in a big way… So that is why it is a big deal… I for one grew up with the Guy Penrod era of the GVB, and I will be a little bummed if he is not at the Reunion. We will know more as the date draws closer so stay tuned! Read more on it here and here.

It will be pretty boring if no guy is there, since all the members of the Gaither Vocal Band have been guys.

(Sorry…I had to do it before quartet-man.)

Well played, I should have subsituted his last name for his first… 🙂

I’m extremely disappointed and can’t help wondering whose decision it was. I think Guy has appeared at two recent Homecomings, so it doesn’t make sense that he wouldn’t appear here.

Then again, it could be that Guy is facing some sort of family emergency. Maybe they’re all sick, or a relative is dying—something of that nature.
