Tony Green Passes Away

This is from the press release regarding Tony’s death.

Anthony Elden Greene, known to most Southern Gospel music fans as “Tony,” passed away today, September 28th just before 4:30pm Eastern Time at the age of 41. Tony had been in Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., since September 21 due to several health complications.

I am saddened to hear of this news for Tony was truly a “Hero Of The Faith” and though he is now in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, it still leaves a huge hole in the Southern Gospel family. I will be and I hope you join me in praying for Taranda and those precious kids of theirs.

Met Tony and Taranda this past spring and really enjoyed their music and talking with Tony after the concert. He was such a kind gentleman and his love of the Lord shined through him. Really going to miss him until we’re all reunited in heaven. We pray that Jesus comforts Taranda and all the family.

I am so sorry for your loss. My two brothers and sister grew up with Tony, Tim, and Kim and they were at each other’s house all the time. My family used to live in Boone until I was born. He will be missed and we are praying for your family.

We have all been blessed by the Greene’s music, but even more by the way they have handled themselves through these last difficult months. Taranda and Tony truly trusted the Lord to guide them and they are a lesson to us all of the strength and grace to be found in Him. May God comfort the family today.

My husband & I were both so sorry to hear of the passing of Tony Greene. I know that none of us knows the reason that God allows things like this to happen & we probably never will know or understand, but we can rest assure that God is in control, & knows what He is doing & we must trust His plan. May the God of all comfort send the comfort that only he can really give.
    Much love & prayers!

I had the opportunity of meeting the Greens when they visited Roanoke, VA this spring. I am from Jamaica, W.I, so one may wonder how a person like me could be so attached to southern gospel. It is people like the Greens who kept me coming back for more. When they came to Roanoke, I decided that I could not go to my church that day, because I had to see the Greens in person, because their ministry has blessed me greatly. I was touched by his testimony that Sunday morning. Their song “I am redeem” brings a shout of hallejah, chills, and tears each time I play the CD. Farewell Tony, we will see you at Jesus’ feet. I am praying for your dear family. Taranda, may you find strength in the Lord during this difficult time, and even the days ahead.

We are so sad to receive the news of Tony. We have wonderful memories of going to lunch with you folks in Chambersburg, PA and singing together at Grandfather Mt in Boone, NC. Tony is now seeing clearly what we see through a dark glass. Oh! How much sweeter Heaven is!
Our prayers are with Tony’s family.
    We love you,
    The Bumbaugh Family
