Youtube Video’s Of The Day (He’s Been There, I Found Grace, Legacy Five)
After reading Phil’s Review on Legacy Five’s Heroes of The Faith project I decided to search out some Youtube videos from that project. This is one that really stands out to me as a stellar performance turned in by Tony Jarman, on probably one of my favorite L5 songs.
I think Tony was a great tenor for Legacy Five. While I was sad to see him go, I think Frank Seamans has really established himself as a first rate tenor over the last five years. And while initially I thought he had some big shoes to fill he has really carved out a niche for himself with L5 here is a video of him singing the song that Tony helped make L5′s first and only number 1 song(I Found Grace). I wish there was a video of Tony singing “I Found Grace” but unfortunately there is not.
Both singers were/are great fits for Legacy Five, I like them both just about equally. I would love to see a homecoming with Tony coming back and singing a couple of songs with L5 for the weekend.
Tony Jarman Returns
Today’s pondering is about former Legacy Five Tenor Tony Jarman. Tony left Legacy Five in early 2004 to start a solo ministry he then released a solo CD. But after about a year in the solo act, he joined the Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet. He stayed with The OTGHQ for around a year and a half or so. He left them and took a sabbatical for a year and a half and now he is back. He has launched a website and sang his first solo date this past Sunday. I have always liked Tony he is a very good singer and a good man, I wish him well in his solo career. If he puts out a new CD I will review it here, I am also hoping to catch one of his concerts, if he is in your area stop in and support him. Here is a link to his new website, parts of which are still under construction. http://www.tonyjarman.com/
Youtube Video Of The Day (Gold City)
I have been thinking about Gold City alot lately so I was looking through some of my favorite Youtube videos of them and this one stands out above all of the rest. In my opinion this was the best lineup they have ever had. This lineup features my favorite Tenor(Jay) My Favorite Bass Singer(Tim) and also one of my favorite all time Leadsingers(Jonathan),this lineup also has Southern Gospels Best Baritone(Mark Trammel) and of course my favorite Pianist Tim Parton. I am telling it does not get much better than this, except for maybe the Cats this is the best group the 90s had to offer IMO.
I am going to post a Youtube video of the day every few days or so. Some will be videos that I and I am sure alot of you have seen many times, but to me a video this good will never ever get old I enjoy it all over again everytime I watch it. Others will be videos that maybe have not been seen as much but really need to be seen. I will post my own videos as well from concerts I go to along with a concert review. I have a few concerts I am going to fairly soon, so be on the lookout for reviews and videos.
Southern Gospel Tidbits
Today and at the end of every week, I will be posting the “Tidbits” from around the world of Southern Gospel.
- Ernie Haase and Signature land another number 1 song “The Old LandMark” will check in at Number 1 for the month of September. I say congrats to Ernie and his boys they have really established themselves the last few years.
- The Collingsworth Family will be releasing a new album called “The Answer” on August 15th, I will say I am looking forward to this one. I really look for this great family group to step it up a notch with this project, watch out they are only just getting started.
- I have been hearing some raving reviews from people who were at the GVB taping this past tuesday night, it looks like it might turn into a two DVD set.(Wes Hampton Blog) I must say I have been anxiously awaiting for the Reunited CD, but now with this news about a possible two DVD set of just the “New” GVB (except for a few songs from The Issacs And Jason Crabb) it makes me even more giddy and anxious. It is expected to be released in early 2010.
- The Ruppes or “Sisters” will be releasing a new project soon according to their Facebook page, it will be called “Sisters Renewed” It will be a Ruppes tribute CD. I am looking forward to hearing this CD I have the “Sisters” first release as the “Sisters” IMO they have some of the smoothest harmoy out there today. Daywind made a smart move by picking this talented trio up.
